We Quietly Launched an App to "Test the Bugs." Trivandrum Turned it Into a Food Revolution.

In just 30 days, a simple idea to fight food waste has become a daily race against sold-out screens across the city.
Eleven months ago, Plenti was just a nagging question: Why are amazing restaurants throwing away fresh food at closing time, while so many people are looking for an affordable, quality meal?
It didn't make sense. So, we decided to build the bridge.
A little over a month ago, we quietly flipped the switch on the Plenti app in Thiruvananthapuram. There was no grand launch party. No massive ad campaign. Honestly, our goal was modest: we just wanted to see if the app worked, fix a few bugs, and maybe save a handful of meals.
We completely underestimated you.
The Trivandrum Phenomenon
What happened next wasn't just early traction; it was a clear signal that Trivandrum was ready for a smarter way to eat.
We didn't find a few early adopters. We found a community waiting for this solution. The response has been overwhelming, humbling, and frankly, a little chaotic in the best way possible.
Here is what the first 30 days of the Plenti movement looked like:
We Are Sold Out. Daily. This is our biggest surprise. Every evening, when our partner restaurants list their surplus "Surprise Drops" at 1/3rd the price, it triggers a race. Most high-demand drops vanish in minutes. You aren't just buying food; you are actively hunting for the smartest deal in the city.
10,000+ Believers With almost zero marketing, over 10,000 people in Trivandrum downloaded Plenti in the first month. You embraced the concept, forgave our early app glitches, and became part of the mission.
2,000+ Meals Rescued This is the number that matters most. That’s more than two thousand delicious meals that ended up on dinner plates instead of in landfills.
The Climate Impact That rescued food translates to preventing roughly 2,773 kg of CO2 emissions. That’s the equivalent impact of taking several cars off the road for a year—just by eating dinner.
More Than Just a "Cheap Meal"
If we’ve learned one thing this month, it’s that Plenti isn’t just about getting a discount. It’s about smart consumption.
It’s about students getting a premium dinner on a budget. It’s about busy parents finding an easy, sustainable answer to "what's for dinner?" It's about supporting local businesses.
We have to thank our 80+ pioneering partners in Trivandrum—like Ambrosia, MRA, The Muffin House, and Terrace by Makkawo—who took a chance on a new idea. They are now turning what was once a daily loss into new revenue and new customers.
We Are Just Getting Started
We know our app isn't perfect yet. We are working day and night to improve the experience and, most importantly, to onboard more restaurants to keep up with your incredible demand.
But this first month proved something vital: We don't have to choose between good business, good food, and a good planet. We can have all three.
Thank you, Trivandrum, for proving that a small change in how we eat can make a massive difference.
Keep an eye on the app tonight. The drops go live soon, and you know they won't last long.
